Gearing up for Round 8 of the Bunnings NPC

Round 8 of the Bunnings NPC kicks off on Friday and will be played under a sombre cloud after the tragic death of Sean Wainui.

To get proceedings underway, Otago will host Canterbury at the Forsyth Barr Stadium. The visitors are coming off a fairly heavy defeat to Hawke’s Bay last weekend, 45-26.

Meanwhile, Otago were able to come away with a 24-13 victory over Northland.

The second game of the round will take the form of Taranaki vs Manawatu. The latter concluded Round 7 as they fell to a 36-16 defeat to Wellington.

Meanwhile, in a thrilling encounter, Taranaki managed to down Waikato 33-26 on the latter’s home turf.

Southland will travel to Porirua Park to tackle Wellington. Southland’s last action was in Round 6 when they were put to the sword by Manawatu, 38-27.

Wellington looked in good form last weekend and will fancy their chances in this encounter.

A mouth-watering contest is in the pipelines as the powerful Hawke’s Bay take on Waikato at McLean Park before Round 8 will conclude on Sunday with Bay of Plenty taking on Northland at Tauranga Domain.

The last time BOP were in action was in Round 5 where they emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter with Wellington, the final score showing as 33-32.
