George North faces anxious British and Irish Lions wait after an agonising injury against Cardiff

George North faces an anxious wait to see whether he will be fit for a third British and Irish Lions tour.

North has been in fine form recently starring in the midfield for Wales as they claimed a Six Nations title but he may miss the chance of featuring in a third British and Irish Lions Tour after suffering a leg injury for Ospreys against Cardiff Blues.

North suffered the injury early in the second half of Ospreys' opening Pro14 Rainbow Cup match. He was helped from the field in the 46th minute and now faces an anxious wait to discover the full extent of the damage.

The 102 test cap back twisted awkwardly and went down holding his right leg with North’s painful cries heard from the stands. He was helped off the field after receiving treatment for a few minutes. He appeared to put very little weight on the injured limb.

Ospreys went on to win the game 36-14. Warren Gatland names his squad to face South Africa on 6 May.
