Giteau out of Argentina clash
After making his first Test appearance in four years last Saturday in Australia’s win over South Africa, Matt Giteau will have to wait for his next run out in a gold jersey.
The Toulon star suffered a sternum injury in Brisbane and has not travelled with the squad to face Argentina in Mendoza.
Christian Leali’ifano has been called up to the squad as a replacement and will compete with Matt Toomua for the Wallabies inside centre berth.
“I know how desperate Matthew was to play and continue to contribute to this group over the next week, his leadership and presence off the field will be missed,” said Wallabies head coach Michael Cheika.
“He’s one of the toughest members in the squad and we all witnessed during the match just how passionate Matthew is about representing his country again.”
“It’s disappointing to lose him for this round, however knowing he will be right to go for the Bledisloe series is reassuring for the group and our fans.”
