Gloucester 14 Connacht 7Gloucester clung on against a second-half fight-back from Connacht to keep their European dreams alive at Kingsholm.

They surged into a 14-0 half-time lead thanks to tries from Charlie Sharples and Bill Meakes but could not add to the scoreboard as the Irish outfit battled.

Referee Mathieu Raynal awarded them a penalty try mid-way through the second period to set-up a tense finale but the Cherry and Whites held resurgent Connacht at bay.

The victory sees Gloucester move into the last four of the Challenge Cup, which remains their last realistic opportunity to qualify…
