Griquas lock set to soar for Stormers

The Stormers have signed a towering Griquas second-rower on loan.

On Tuesday, Griquas confirmed that Albert Liebenberg will join the Cape club.

The 28-year-old captained Griquas during their Currie Cup title defence this year.

“After being part of our successful 2026 season, this move gives Albert the opportunity to challenge himself at URC level,” said a Griquas statement.

“We’re proud to see Albert take this opportunity and will be following his journey throughout the URC.

“Go well, Albert. We look forward to seeing you back in the Griquas jersey.”

The Stormers face the Sharks in round three of the URC in Cape Town on Saturday.
