Guildford opts out of Waratahs move
Zac Guildford has opted to stay in New Zealand rather than join the Waratahs.
The former All Blacks winger returned to Hawke’s Bay after a stint in the Top 14 with Clermont earlier this year.
Guildford settled back in New Zealand but was then tipped to link up with his former Crusaders coach Daryl Gibson in Sydney with the Waratahs, where Gibson is taking over from Michael Cheika.
Guildford has struggled with off-field issues and spent time in rehab in the past, with his latest move ensuring he will stay closer to his support network.
"I've had a rethink and I've decided it might be better to stay closer to home and family and friends," Guildford told Hawke's Bay Today.
"There could be a bit of interest from New Zealand Super teams too.”
