Harlequins Coaching Structure Update

Harlequins can today provide an update on the Club’s coaching structure for the 2025/26 season.

Following the departure of Danny Wilson last week, the Club is pleased to confirm that Jason Gilmore will undertake the role of Senior Coach and Toby Booth will join Quins as Forwards Consultant for the 2025/26 season.

Gilmore will retain responsibility for defence while assuming a leadership role within the Quins coaching group comprising Nick Evans (Attack), Adam Jones (Scrum), and Gerard Mullen (Skills) alongside new addition Toby Booth (Forwards).

The Australian has over 15 years senior coaching experience at club and international level. He arrived at The Stoop ahead of the 2024/25 season following Head Coach roles with Australia A, Australia Under-20s and the Barbarians, alongside Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Defence Coach roles with the NSW Waratahs and Queensland Reds.

Booth arrives in TW2 as Forwards Consultant, bringing with him extensive coaching experience.

The former Ospreys Head Coach (2020-2024), who previously spent a short spell at The Stoop during the 2019/20 campaign as Assistant Coach, brings a wealth of experience to the coaching team from a career that has seen him hold further senior roles of First Team Coach at Bath Rugby (2012–2019) and Director of Rugby at London Irish (2008–2012).

Over a coaching career spanning two decades, Booth has participated in two European Challenge Cup finals and two Premiership finals. More recently, in his consultancy role with the Hong Kong China Rugby Union, he helped the team secure its first-ever qualification for the Rugby World Cup in 2027 following a triumphant 2025 Asia Rugby Championship campaign.

Harlequins Chief Executive, Laurie Dalrymple, said: “Following Danny’s departure last week, we are pleased to swiftly confirm our updated coaching structure for the 2025/26 season. Jason has made a positive impact within the performance group since his arrival at the Club and will assume this leadership role within what is an already established and experienced coaching group. Similarly, we’re equally pleased to welcome back Toby as a Forwards Consultant, who has a strong understanding of our Club and playing identity.

“As the season progresses, we will continue to review our coaching structure for the long term but for now, our full focus is this week’s fixture against Leicester Tigers in the PREM Cup and next Friday’s Gallagher PREM opener against Bath Rugby at a sold-out Stoop.”
