Harry Williams sent off while on the bench for Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs' prop Harry Williams was sent off after leaving the bench to join a scuffle as tensions boiled over the crunch Premiership clash between Exeter and Saracens.

Williams had been sinbinned for the first time in his career earlier in the second half, for collapsing a maul, before he was replaced later in the game after he failed an HIA.

The front-rower received a red card after Saracens centre Duncan Taylor reacted after being tackled into touch by Nic White in the 77th minute which sparked the scuffle.

Williams rushed in to join the action as a mass melee ensued leading to an early shower after referee Wayne Barnes brandished a red card.

The Daily Mail reported Williams, 28, "had a heated verbal exchange with test teammate Mako Vunipola" as he was ushered off the field.

Exeter's victory thanks to tries from Nic White and Jacques Vermeulen saw Exeter return to the top of the Premiership with Saracens' only points coming from a penalty try shortly after the incident.

This wasn't the only incident with another melee occurring in the TOP14 clash between Clermont and Castres.
