Hook never considered retirement
Wales fly-half James Hook has revealed he never considered retiring despite his absence from the international arena.
Hook’s good form after moving to Gloucester from Perpignan put him back in contention for selection in the eyes of head coach Warren Gatland.
The veteran has now been handed the starting role at number against Ireland in Saturday’s World Cup warm-up match and can’t wait to run out at a sold out Millennium Stadium.
“I never thought of packing it in,” said Hook.
“It gets tough but you get on with it and when you see your mates out there you want to be playing.
“You realise what a great atmosphere there is at the Millennium Stadium and you never want to turn your back on that."
