Introducing: The Eight Uncapped Players In The England Squad

Eddie Jones has named a 36-player squad for England’s summer tour to Australia with eight uncapped players included.

Jones' has had to deal with a lengthy injury list with George Ford and Alex Dombrandt added after the weekend's Premiership Final and Babarians match.

Injuries and recent performances mean that the England boss has called up eight uncapped players.

Position: Fullback, wing

Age: 19

Weight: 96kgs

Height: 1.83m

A name that many have become familiar with recently after the speedster went viral for an incredible solo try against Toulon in the Challenge Cup.

The 19-year-old has been named as one of two apprentice players in Eddie Jones' squad meaning that it is unlikely that he will make his test debut during the tour.

He was a standout performer for the England u20s and is still eligible for the side.

He was part of the London Irish U18s squad that won the Under-18 Academy League title. He attended Harrow School and has been a part of the London Irish Academy since he was 14 years old, whilst also playing his club rugby for Bradford-on-Avon RFC. He has also previously been selected as part of the England U18 setup.

He is also eligible to represent Scotland and Wales but England looks to have secured his services going forward.

Arundell was crowned the Land Rover Discovery of the Season at the Premiership Rugby awards ceremony. He has bagged 11 tries in 17 appearances for the Exiles and England under-20s in the 2021/22 campaign

Will Joseph

Position: Centre

Club: London Irish

Age: 19

Weight: 93kgs

Height: 1.83m

The younger brother of England and Lions centre Jonathan Joseph, Will followed in his brother's footsteps joining the London Irish Academy at the age of 13.

He played his youth rugby with Newbury Blues and has been capped at U18 level with England and played for Berkshire at the county level.

He made both his European and Premiership debut during the 2020/21 campaign.

Injuries hampered his season but he returned from a spell on the sidelines scoring two runaway tries in vital wins against Castres in the EPCR Challenge Cup and Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

The second apprentice player in Eddie Jones' squad, Joseph will celebrate his 20th birthday in Australia earning his inclusion after just seven appearances and one try in the Premiership and Challenge Cup this season.

Fraser Dingwall

Position: Centre

Club: Northampton Saints

Age: 23

Weight: 92kgs

Height: 1.88m

It is not the first time that Fraser Dingwall has been included in an England squad but after yet another standout season, he could make his test debut for England.

Dingwall first linked up with Northampton Saints at just 14 years old and broke through into the senior squad during the 2018/19 season.

He began his international career in a Scotland shirt - captaining the Under-16s side and earning a cap at Under-18 level but after signing for Northampton's Senior Academy in 2017, the Beford School graduate switched allegiances.

He would go on to feature for the England u18s and captained the u20s.

Dingwall featured in 23 of Northampton's 25 Premiership matches this season scoring twice and assisting 10 tries as Saints reached the semi-finals.

He gained well over 1000 running metres, beat 30 defenders and made 10 clean breaks.

With Manu Tuilagi missing the tour and Eliot Daly omitted, Dingwall has the opportunity to claim a test debut.

Guy Porter

Position: Centre, outside back

Club: Leicester Tigers

Guy Porter earns his test call-up off the back of Leicester Tigers' successful Premiership season.

Comfortable on the wings and in the centres, Porter played 21 of Leicester's 26 matches dotting down five times and assisted a further five tries.

Born in England, Porter joined Leicester from the Brumbies back in July 2020.

Since he joined the Tigers he has made 45 appearances for the club.

Jack van Poortvliet

Position: Scrumhalf

Club: Leicester Tigers

Age: 21

Weight: 84kgs

Height: 1.83m

Another former England u20, Jack van Poortvliet has been tipped for higher honours for some time now and after a standout season with Leicester Tigers' he has earned his test call up.

The 21-year-old featured 27 times for Steve Borthwick's side this season.

He played in 19 of Leicester's 26 Premiership matches as the Club went on to win the competition finishing every round on top of the table.

He scored three tries and assisted three throughout the season.

A converted flyhalf, van Poortvliet attended Tigers Rugby Camps at North Walsham RFC before joining the club’s developing player programme and then entering the academy system.

He made his senior debut for the side during the 2018/19 season and has racked up 48 appearances since.

Patrick Schickerling

Position: Tighthead Prop

Club: Exeter Chiefs

Age: 23

Weight: 120kgs

Height: 1.82m

Kyle Sinckler's injury has opened the door for Exeter's Patrick Schickerling to make his test debut.

Born in Namibia, Schickerling played rugby in his hometown, Walvis Bay and matriculated at Walvis Bay Private High School before joining Exeter Chiefs in November 2018.

Since arriving in Devon, he has had spells on loan at Chinnor and the Cornish Pirates.

After returning from his loan with the Pirates, he has made 11 Premiership and five Champions Cup appearances.

England scrum coach Richard Cockerill had this to say about the prop last week: "He has come in and has worked really hard. He is pretty raw but huge amount of potential."

Jack Walker

Position: Hooker

Club: Harlequins

Age: 26

Weight: 109kgs

Height: 1.83m

After five seasons with Bath Rugby, Jack Walker made the move to Harlequins ahead of the 2021/22 season having racked up 70 appearances for the West Country outfit.

A flyhalf in his youth, Walker moved into the back-rower and eventually hooker by the time he was 14.

A former England u20 captain, Walker showed promise from a young age and signed for Yorkshire Carnegie in 2013 making his debut against Bristol at the age of 17 years and 160 days.

He won the U20 World Championship with England in 2014 and captained the side two years later in the Six Nations.

One of the most consistent hookers in the Premiership this season, Walker played every single Premiership match for Quins and missed just one Champions Cup fixture.
