Jalibert makes a late claim for a test recall

Young France fly-half Matthieu Jalibert scored 19 points as Union Bordeaux-Begles beat Toulon 34-12 in the French Top 14 on Saturday as England centre Ben Te'o made his debut for the visitors.

Jalibert won his only test cap to date against Ireland in the Six Nations last year and has struggled with injuries since.

However, the young playmaker has impressed so far for Bordeaux in the opening two games of the season.

He scored 13 points off the bench against Toulouse last week scoring a try, two penalties and a conversion as Bordeaux stunned Toulouse.

And he was even better in his first start of the season claiming a first-half try and slotted a pair of penalties and four conversions in a virtuoso display with the boot and in open play.

Jalibert picked up a try assist against Toulon and was heavily involved in Lamerat's first try as he outplayed Toulon ace Louis Carbonel and laid down a real marker.

Jacques Brunel names his Rugby World Cup squad on Monday and the French head coach admitted that he was still unsure of a few positions in his squad.

Camille Lopez, Romain Ntamack, Antoine Dupont, Baptiste Serin and Thomas Ramos can all comfortably play flyhalf for France meaning they are not short on options.

However, the highly-rated Jalibert could be a sensational inclusion in the squad and has been tipped for a very bright future in the national set up.

Should he go to his first World Cup this year?
