Jamie George Stars in Saracens win
- 911
Saracens got their season underway with a 21-31 away win over Newcastle today.
Here are the Top Performers from the match:
Jamie George - Saracens
The British and Irish Lions hooker had an outstanding opening game for Saracens.
His lineouts were pinpoint today and he was extremely impressive on attack in the 14th minute to finish off a superb team try.
George also stepped up when it mattered most as Saracens were down a man and under pressure from Newcastle who were just one point behind.
He ran a great line and broke through the Falcons defence and went just a metre short of the tryline, the ball was spread out wide to Tompkins who finished off the try.
Mark Wilson - Newcastle Falcons
The Falcons flanker weighed-in with two tries for his side. He caught the Saracens' defence napping when he raced through the defence from a ruck to score.
His second was off the back of clever lineout by the Newcastle pack. Wilson made 12 carries, 11 tackles and was a pest at the breakdown making two turnovers.
Game on!

Alex Lewington - Saracens
A dream debut for Saracens' young winger. He came on early on under unfortunate circumstances after David Strettle's injury.
Lewington made the most of the brilliant service he got from his fellow backs and ran great lines to score two tries.
