Jannie Du Plessis joins coaching staff of Montpellier's youth team

Montpellier have today confirmed that South African prop Jannie Du Plessis has joined the club's youth team as scrum coach.

Du Plessis joined the team from the Sharks in 2015 along with his brother Bismarck, helping them to the European Challenge Cup in 2016 as well as making the Top 14 final this year.

The 35-year-old will now supervise the club's various youth teams starting from the academy, while also becoming coach of the Espoirs team alongside Stephane Welch and Anthony Floch.

The club has also confirmed the signing of some young French hopefuls, including the recent U20 world champion Danniel Brenan from the Stade Toulousain on a three-year contract.

Pierre Tournebize has also signed a contract for the three seasons, while hooker Yuri Delhommel signs up for two years.

Originally from the Paris region, Delhommel was with Massy, where he will remain on loan for a season.
