Jonathan Davies, the Wales centre, has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup
after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while
playing for Clermont Auvergne against Montpellier on Saturday.
Davies requires surgery and he will be out of action for at least six months,
news that comes as a mighty blow for Wales as they prepare to face England,
Australia, Fiji and Uruguay in the toughest pool of the World Cup.
The 27-year-old has won 48 caps for Wales and he started all three
internationals for the Lions in their series victory over Australia in 2013.
