Jordan Petaia hit with another injury - report

Dave Rennie could kick off his tenure as the new Wallabies' head coach without the services of Australia's brightest talents with Jordan Petaia set for a spell on the sidelines.

Petaia featured in the Super Rugby AU final where he set up a try for Harry Wilson before half time but the speedster did not return in the second half.

The 20-year-old looked to have injured his hip flexor and according to the Sydney Morning Herald he is now in doubt for the first Bledisloe Cup clash with New Zealand.

Wallabies medical staff will assess the 20-year-old today, when he arrives for the training camp ahead of the Bledisloe Cups but scans have confirmed Petaia has suffered a hip flexor injury, which puts him in doubt for the first Bledisloe on October 11, the Herald states.

The Herald report says it is believed that Petaia is believed to be the first-choice Wallabies centre, but this latest injury may force a backline re-shuffle from new head coach Dave Rennie.

Petaia has already suffered a serious shoulder and Lisfranc injuries, which have limited his involvement with the Reds to a handful of games. The youngester has had a tough run with injuries so early in his career. He has played just 21 games for the Reds out of a possible 49 due to injuries.
