Leinster set semi-final date with Toulouse after defeating Leicester

Leinster overcame Leicester Tigers 23-14 at Welford Road on Saturday to book a semi-final clash with Toulouse.

Leo Cullen's charges surged into 20 point lead at halftime, adding three points in the second 40 minutes and conceded 14 points.

Ireland internationals Josh van der Flier and Robbie Henshaw crossed the whitewash with Jonathan Sexton adding two penalties in the first before Leicester attempted a comeback with second-half scores from Chris Ashton and Nic Dolly.

Flanker Josh van der Flier powered his way over the line 15 minutes into the match, adding to fly-half Sexton’s early penalty. 

Centre Robbie Henshaw barreled over some seven minutes later stunning the hosts and as they opened a 17 points lead. Sexton added three more points before the break. 


Leicester gained some ascendancy in the second half with a powerful lineout drive setting the platform Chris Ashton's try.

Nemani Nadolo came off the bench and came close to adding a try of his own but the Fijian was held up over the line in the 53rd minute.


Sexton further extended Leinster's lead in the 65th minute as Leinster wrestled back some of the momentum.

Nic Dolly's score in the 78th minute was just too late as the game was too far out of the Tigers reach by then.
