Liam Williams ruled out of the Rugby World Cup

Wales fullback Liam Williams has been ruled out for the rest of the Rugby World Cup after picking up an ankle injury in training.

According to reports, the injury is so bad that the 28-year-old is said to be on crutches.

Williams has enjoyed a stunning 2019 having won the European Champions Cup and English Premiership with Saracens. He has won 62 caps for Wales and three for the Lions, and has been first choice in the 15 shirt in Japan.

Scarlets full-back Leigh Halfpenny is now in line to replace the fellow British and Irish Lion star in Yokohama.

Wales will announce their team on Friday.
