Los Pumas international, Mayco Vivas, commits to new deal at Kingsholm

Argentine international, Mayco Vivas, has signed a new contract to stay at Kingsholm next season.

Vivas joined the Cherry & Whites in October, becoming the fourth Puma in the squad alongside Santi Socino, Matias Alemanno and Santi Carreras.

Just before linking up with the squad, Vivas broke his arm on international duty, meaning he didn’t make his Cherry & Whites debut until March’s Gallagher Premiership game against Newcastle Falcons, coming off the bench.

Vivas went on to make his first start against La Rochelle in the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 a week later and has started every game since, totalling five appearances.

Gloucester Rugby Head Coach, George Skivington has been impressed by Mayco’s impact at the back end of the season and is hoping to see the 24-year-old continue to develop his game in Cherry & White.

“Mayco has had a difficult time since joining us but has worked hard in his rehab and now kicked on following his injury.

“He’s had several opportunities to play over the last few weeks and I’ve been impressed with how quickly he’s taken to Premiership Rugby.

“We’ve got healthy competition now in that loose-head shirt which is only a positive for the club, and we’re looking forward to seeing Mayco continue to progress at Kingsholm.”
