Meet The New Major League Rugby Team: The Dallas Jackals

Major League Rugby have announced the unveiling of the Dallas franchise for the 2021 MLR season. The Dallas Jackals are based in the DFW Metroplex and are set to play at Globe Life Park in Arlington, in Arlington, TX.

Ownership of the Dallas Jackals is led by an investment group including Neil Leibman and Donnie Nelson. The Jackals home stadium, Globe Life Park, is the most recent home of the XFL Renegades, the USL North Texas SC, and former home of the Texas Rangers.

“Dallas has been ready to welcome an MLR team for several years now so we are ecstatic that the Jackals are on board for 2021. The Dallas Jackals have the recipe for success in MLR – an extremely knowledgeable and experienced ownership group, plans for a stadium, and a mission for youth and community engagement. I look forward to seeing them excel in the League in 2021 and beyond,” said George Killebrew, MLR Commissioner.

MLR added two new expansion teams in Dallas and Los Angeles to rise to a total of 13 teams for the fourth season in 2021. The Dallas Jackals will join the Austin Gilgronis and Houston SaberCats as the third team based in Texas, proving that even rugby is “Bigger in Texas.” Dallas is known as a city of passionate sports fans with a multitude of successful professional sports teams, and loyal fanbases. With the multitude of rugby clubs currently in DFW, the Jackals look forward to bringing a higher caliber level of the sport to North Texas.

With MLR hosting its first-ever collegiate draft on Saturday, June 13, roster announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
