Michael Le Bourgeois re-signs for Bedford Blues

Bedford Blues have announced that captain Michael Le Bourgeois has put pen to paper on a brand new deal that will keep him at Goldington Road until 2020.

Speaking about the re-signing, Bedford Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “First and foremost, we are thrilled that Michael has committed his future to the club. Since he first joined us in 2013, he has developed and matured as a player and as a captain and it was very important to keep him with us.

“Michael is a natural leader both on and off the field and his teammates respond well to his style of captaincy. I’m sure that many clubs would have liked to have signed a player with his attributes so it is certainly a bit of a coup to have him in a Blues jersey for two more seasons.”

Le Bourgeois joined the Blues in 2013 having moved from fellow Championship side Jersey Reds. Starting his rugby career in the Jersey Academy in 2008, 'Booj' signed for Jersey in 2011 and became the first Jersey Academy graduate and Jersey born player to sign a professional contract with the club. Comfortable at playing in the centre, fly half, on the wing and at full-back, Le Bourgeois provides both versatility and skill to the Bedford Blues squad.
