Michalak to retire at the end of the season

Lyon utility back Frédéric Michalak has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the current Top 14 season. 

"After long reflection and after an offer from the club (Lyon), I put an end to my career," said the 35-year-old

Michalak started his professional career at Toulouse and made his Test debut against South Africa in 2001 having just won the Top 14 with Toulouse.

The following week he started at scrum-half against Australia. 

The 35-year-old represented Toulouse, Lyon and Toulon in France and had two stints with the Sharks in Super Rugby and Currie Cup. 


Michalak earned 77 caps for France between 2001 and 2015. He also represented France at 3 Rugby World Cups and won the Six Nations with France in 2004 and 2006.
