Mignoni extends Lyon stay

Lyon head coach Pierre Mignoni has been awarded with a lucrative five-year contract extension for guiding Lyon to Top 14 promotion.

Lyon have started the new campaign strongly with four wins from their opening five games and currently lie in 3rd place.

In recent times Lyon have found themselves changing between the first and second Tier of French domestic rugby due to an era of unstability.

The impact of 2017 Top 14 Player of the Year nominee Carl Fearns staying with the club has significantly increased their chances of staying in the top half of the league come the end of the season.

"I believe ever more strongly in the Lyon project," said Mignoni, who spent four years as defensive coach at Toulon.

"I was a little afraid of the length of the contract at first but I want to take Lyon to the very top of French rugby."
