A fantastic win for Auckland as they end an 8-year drought in Canterbury beating the home side 29-34. TJ Faiane took over the captaincy today and scored a what he claimed to be his first ever hattrick. Faiane scored his first try after Dalton Papali'i intercepted a pass from the scrum, he found Plummer in support who put Faiane through. The captain doubled up 7 minutes into the game when Melanie Nanai picked off an overthrown lineout with the centre running a super line to score. Canterbury hit back through Pleasants-Tate before Cameron and Plummer exchange penalties. Ruru and Faagase each scored before the break with Auckland leading 25-27. Faiane completed his hattrick within the first 10 mintues of the second half before Manu score yet another intercept try. Chris King and Brodie McAlister each scored late tries as Canterbury secured the losing bonus point. Full time: Canterbury 29-34 Auckland
