Black Ferns Sevens claim title at inaugural Glendale Sevens


New Zealand claimed a fourth successive title on the HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series – and sixth in total – after beating the Women's Sevens Eagles in the HSBC USA Women's Sevens final in Glendale, Colorado, on Sunday.




The Black Ferns Sevens have now won 33 consecutive matches, including the Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens, after another dominant weekend in the opening round of the 2019 series at Infinity Park.

Danny Cipriani faces a possible five-week ban after being sent off in Gloucester's 36-22 defeat to Munster in the European Champions Cup on Saturday.

The Gloucester fly-half was shown the red card for a dangerous tackle on Munster centre Niall Scannell, only two days after being left out of England's autumn internationals squad.

De Jager, Vermeulen & Nyakane return to Springboks squad, Mtawarira ruled out through injury

A preliminary Springbok training squad 20 for the forthcoming November Test Tour to the United Kingdom and France has been announced.

 

Duane Vermeulen, Trevor Nyakane and Lood de Jager making a return to the group, while Tendai Mtawarira was ruled out of the tour due to injury.

 

The majority of the squad players have already assembled on Sunday for camp, which will last for a week before they depart in two groups to London next Saturday. Overseas-based players and those involved in the 2018 Currie Cup Final were not considered for the Stellenbosch camp. Full story

 

 

Reece Hodge ruled out of November Tests

 

Melbourne Rebels pair Reece Hodge and Angus Cottrell have been ruled out of the third Bledisloe Cup Test in Japan after both suffered injuries at training.


 
Hodge injured his ankle in the team’s final training session on home soil on Friday and will sit out the clash against New Zealand as well as the upcoming November Tests. Read more
