Monday Round-Up
Lancaster extends group: England head coach Stuart Lancaster has made nine additions to his training squad ahead of the forthcoming November International Series. After injuries to a multitude of players, including the likes of James Haskell, Luther Burrell, Billy Vunipola and Manu Tuilagi, Lancaster has turned to both some old and some new faces to take his side forward. Among those included, are Exeter Chiefs trio Henry Slade, Dave Ewers and Thomas Waldrom, who replace the aforementioned injured trio. Ewers and Waldrom come in amidst concerns over the fitness of both Vunipola and fellow Saracens back rower Will Fraser, both of whom are showing symptoms of concussion after the weekend's action. Elsewhere, Henry Thomas and Alex Waller come in as front row cover for Davey Wilson and Joe Marler who are nursing calf and thigh injuries respectively. Also included are the likes of Ben Foden, Matt Kvesic, Anthony Watson and Richard Wigglesworth, all of whom will provide cover for those involved in Sunday's European action.
Metro battle on: Despite a spirited performance from the home side, Racing Metro came away with all four points from Stadio Comunale di Monigo, as they overcame Treviso 26-10 in Pool 5 of the European Champions Cup yesterday. Coming into the game still searching for their opening win of the season, Treviso were firmly underdogs against the likes of Sexton and co in the blue of the Parisian outfit. And it was Sexton who did much of the damage for the Top 14 outfit, with the Irishman knocking over four penalties to go with two conversions to tries from Henry Chavancy and Wenceslas Lauret. Despite not icing up a four try bonus point against the group minnows, Metro remain top of the table with two wins from two, having put away Northampton in Round 1 of the competition.
