Mulvihill backs Anscombe to finish on a high

Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill has 100 per cent confidence that Ospreys-bound flyhalf Gareth Anscombe will give his all to sign off from Cardiff Blues on a winning note.
It was confirmed last week that Anscombe would be making the switch to Ospreys next season and the two sides go head-to-head at Judgement Day, on Saturday.
Mulvihill, who admits it is disappointing to lose the fly-half, has every faith that Anscombe will be fully committed and professional.
Speaking to Cardiff Blues website Mulvihill said: “Gareth’s the complete professional player and has had a great season with ourselves and Wales. Professional boys will want to finish their careers at our club on a high and as winners.
“If there’s a 50/50 ball or a goal to be kicked, he’s the man to do it. We might see the Gareth Anscombe show on Saturday because guys like that thrive under pressure. There will be a bit of pressure on him and he will look back on that game with a bit of pride.
“Players and coaches come and go and it’s quite unreal we happen to be playing the Ospreys this week but he’s a true professional and will be going out in our colours to win a game for Cardiff Blues
“He’s one of our best players so he’ll play. He will want to leave Cardiff Blues on a high and I have 100 per cent confidence in him.”
The clash at the Principality Stadium is crucial for both sides, as a place in the Champions Cup next season is up for grabs as too is a place in the PRO14 finals.
