Premiership Rugby Preview: Newcastle Falcons v Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs top the Premiership Rugby table after they claimed a maximum 15 points from the first three rounds of the competition.

However, they will be tested at Kingston Park against the team they beat them in the 2017/18 Premiership semi-final.

The Falcon have lost two of their opening three games of the season and head into this encounter following a narrow 20-23 win over Worcester Warriors.

Recent history is on Exeter's with their only defeat in their last eight matches against Newcastle during the Premiership Rugby was 20-28 at Kingston Park in Round 13 last year. 


The Chiefs have tweaked their line-up with both Kvesic and Simmonds returning to the starting line-up having missed out last week, Ian Whitten gets the nod over Ollie Devoto in the centre, while summer signing Alex Cuthbert gets his first start on the wing with Jack Nowell not risked.

Calum Green becomes a Newcastle Falcons centurion in this match as he plays his 100th game for the club. Green leads the league for line-out takes while Tom Arscott makes his competitive debut for the Falcons.

The experienced winger joined the Falcons in the summer and partners Alex Tait out wide – the other two changes coming in the forward pack.

Adam Brocklebank makes his first Gallagher Premiership start, while Gary Graham comes into a reshuffled back row in place of Callum Chick.
