Quins seek to take the sting out of Wasps

Round 7 will close with last year’s finalists, Wasps, hosting Harlequins at the Ricoh Arena.

Wasps were party to a fantastic game last weekend against Bath at The Rec. in which the visitors swarmed as proceedings drew to a close, shaking the last life out of Bath and running out 52-44 victors.

‘Quins left the pitch at the Twickenham Stoop with frustration in their minds and hearts after a 27-all draw to London Irish, the latter mounting a strong fight-back in the final quarter to stave off a loss.

With regard to the log standings, a win could put Wasps in the top 4 as they are currently tie on points with Sale Sharks on the overall standings but separated by points difference. This would, of course, be a most desirable outcome for Lee Blackett’s charges and will no doubt offer that much more motivation come kick-off.

‘Quins find themselves in 7th spot currently, just a single point behind Leicester Tigers, with only a brace of victories to their name after six outings.

Nine points separated these two sides the last time they crossed swords – in Round 21 of the 2019-20 tournament. The game also took place at the Twickenham Stoop and one of the most noteworthy factors was the dominance of the Wasps scrum. ‘Quins build up a lead in that game which was stolen back as the game drew to a close – ‘Quins will hopefully have taken something from that game and be more vigorous in defending a possible lead and at scrum time as well, though it will not be easy against the strong Wasps outfit.
