Rennie hits out at NZ quarantine protocols as Bledisloe Cup looms

Wallabies head coach Dave Rennie has sent a stern message to New Zealand regarding the country’s quarantine regulations against the backdrop of the two Bledisloe Cup tests scheduled to take place there in October, according to a report in newshub.co.nz.

New Zealand recently missed out on the hosting rights for this year’s Rugby Championship competition – which will be observed in Australia – but were handed the responsibility of hosting two tests against the Wallabies. Rennie, however, has dismissed the expectations placed upon his team as unrealistic and unacceptable.

"NZ Rugby's got an expectation that we jump on a plane the day after the Super Rugby final, have two weeks in quarantine, where we can't prepare as a team, and then play a test seven days later,” Rennie said.

With the first test being currently scheduled for 10 October, Rugby Australia has issued a statement in which it highlights that 17 October is the earliest date that the Wallabies would consider playing.

"Under those quarantine arrangements, I can assure we won't be playing a test in New Zealand that weekend [10 October]," Rennie added.
