Rhodri Jones set to miss RWC
Wales have been dealt a fresh injury setback ahead of the Rugby World Cup with the news that Rhodri Jones has been ruled out of the tournament.

A torn pectoral muscle is set to sideline Jones for 12 to 16 weeks after the 23-year-old undergoes surgery.

Jones sustained the injury during a grueling fitness camp in Switzerland, much to the disappointment of Wales head coach Warren Gatland.

Scott Andrews of Cardiff Blues has been called up as his replacement ahead of Wales’ next trip to Doha.

“It is hugely disappointing for Rhodri, who was working extremely hard out in Switzerland. We wish him all the best with his recovery from the injury,” said Gatland.

“It is a great opportunity for Scott to come into the squad and show us what he is capable of.  In terms of the tighthead position, Samson has continued to make excellent progress and we have been very impressed with both Aaron Jarvis and Tomas Francis during the first batch of training.”
