Richmond Announce New Captain For 2018-19 Season

After six years, Will Warden has stepped down as captain of Richmond’s first team.

This year, Richmond will be led by centre Cam Mitchell.

Having captained Darlington Mowden Park in National One, and represented England Counties, Mitchell joined Richmond three years ago, and has been ever present in the first team during their rise through the leagues.

“It is a huge honour to be asked to captain Richmond this season,” Cam Mitchell said.

“I will be following one of the all-time great captains and leaders in Will Warden. I have learnt a huge amount from him and the coaches over the past three seasons and I could not be more excited to get this season underway.”

Mitchell will be supported in his role by two vice captains, forwards Jesse Liston and Jake Parker.

“Cameron has been an outstanding player in the Richmond side in the last three years”, Director of rugby Steve Hill said, “and I am excited to work with him as this year’s first team captain, as Richmond yet again aim to exceed all expectations in the Championship.”
