Rob Baxter poised to announce two new Exeter Chiefs signings
The Chiefs have been hit by a number of long term injuries and international call-ups which are taking their toll on the side. They will shortly be facing a heavy Premiership schedule and Baxter has decided to bolster the side with two yet-to-be-confirmed signings. Indications are that one will be a Pro12 lock and the other an overseas-backed back.
"Initially with the first injury to Damian we were thinking we could get through things and we had enough cover, but the second injury to Mitch really tipped the balance too far for us to try and battle our way through," he said.
Chiefs injured players: Dave Ewers (knee), Luke Cowan-Dickie (thumb), Damian Welch (chest), Mitch Lees (arm) and Henry Slade (broken leg and dislocated ankle)
International call-ups: Cowan-Dickie, Jack Nowell, Sam Hill (all England Six Nations), Moray Low (Scotland), Tomas Francis (Wales) and Michele Campagnaro (Italy).
