Capped 111 times, Best was confirmed as the Ulster captain for the 2017-18 season, having played 198 times for his home Province.
He missed Ireland's first series win in Australia in June because of a hamstring injury which has flared up towards the end of the past two seasons.
The 36-year-old Ulster and Ireland captain is contracted until the end of the World Cup campaign in Japan next year.
