Rugby Football Union tells referees to make more on-field decisions to keep the game flowing

The Rugby Football Union has pledged to reduce the number of times it consults
the television match official this season and admits that it “needs to do
better” in using such technology.

It has taken heed of complaints from fans
that there were too many hold-ups last season and has instructed its
officials to trust their own on-field judgment more.




There will also be a welcome adjustment on the ruling of forward passes with
the emphasis to be placed on adjudicating “on the direction of the ball
leaving the hands” rather than on the positioning of the hands in a forwar…
