Russell ruled out of French Test

Scotland stand-off Finn Russell has been ruled out of this Saturday’s Six Nations Test against France in Paris with a head injury.

The fly-half failed an initial head injury assessment after going off just before the break in a Top 14 encounter for Racing 92 against Toulouse.

The 26-year-old playmaker has not satisfied the requirements of today’s component of the graduated return to play protocol – meaning there is insufficient time for him to be considered for this weekend’s action.

Scotland have confirmed that he will now return to the care of his club’s medical team.
