Sale reportedly table massive offer for Folau

Sale Sharks have reportedly made a £750,000-a-year bid for Wallabies star Israel Folau, according to Sunday's edition of The Rugby Paper.

It is understood that the Greater Manchester club are on the lookout for a ''world class No.15'' after losing Mike Haley & Will Addison in recent months to Irish provinces.

Folau's contract with Rugby Australia and Super Rugby side NSW Waratahs expires at the end of 2018, with numerous NRL clubs also vying to secure his services.

The 62-Test cap Wallaby converted to the 15-a-side format in 2013 and will still be eligible to represent Australia at the 2019 RWC from a European base.

Sale Sharks are backed by multi-millionaire owner Simon Orange who last year made an attempt to sign All Blacks centre Sonny Bill Williams, the club is also home to former Wallaby James O'Connor.

The Premiership club distanced itself from the transfer speculation on Sunday but director of rugby Steve Diamond last year denied reports linking Marland Yarde with Sale before signing him to a three-year deal a few days later.
