Saturday Premiership Rugby Recap

Bath Rugby, Wasps and Bristol Bears all claimed wins in what was an entertaining day of Premiership Rugby.

11 tries were scored across the three games while 5 yellow cards were shown - three of which being shown to Harlequins players.

Bath Rugby 17-15 Northampton Saints

A slow to start to the game with the first try coming in the 17th-minute when Cobus Rienach toed on a loose ball to score.

Freddie Burns scored a similar try when he pounced on a loose ball before the half-hour mark as the two sides went into the break all square.

Freddie Burns put Bath ahead 15 minutes after the break before Joe Cokansiga scored his third try of the season.

Dan Biggar narrowed the gap to 7 points and could have secured a draw for the visitors after Tom Collins scored in the corner but the Welshman's kick came off the post.

Sale Sharks 13-31 Wasps

Nathan Hughes was sent to the bin inside the first minute of the game for cynical play and Sale Sharks wasted no time punishing them as Jono Ross opened the scoring moments later.

Wasps were able to limit the damage while being a man short and scored two late well-worked tries for Nizaam Carr and Josh Basset to lead 10-17 at the break.

AJ MacGinty closed the gap to 4 points 6 minutes after the break before Ben Curry was sent to the bin for an early hit.

Wasps punished Sale immediately, much like the home side did early in the first half, through a Will Stuart try.

The game slowed down from there with the Nathan Hughes scoring the final try of the game as Wasps claimed their first win at Sale since 2010.

Bristol Rugby 20-13 Harlequins

Danny Care opened the scoring in this game and in doing so broke Ugo Monye's Harlequins try-scoring record.

James Lang and Ian Madigan traded penalties before Ben Tapuai spent 10 minutes in the sin bin for an infringement at the breakdown.

Piers O'Conor scored off a nice break from Harry Thacker before Ian Madigan converted a penalty to put Bristol Bears 1 point up at halftime.

Joe Marler was sent to cool off for 10 minutes after he was judged to have elbowed the tackler in the face while attempting to fend him off.

Ian Madigan and James Lang traded penalties again before the Irishman put Bristol 7 points ahead into the final 20 minutes.

Paul Lasike was yellow carded for an NFL style tackle in the final minute of the game as Bristol held onto their lead to claim their second win of the season.
