Scotland confirm squad for Rugby World Cup

Scotland have today announced their 31-man squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, with Stuart McInally appointed as captain.

Head Coach Gregor Townsend has opted for 17 forwards and 14 backs to make up his squad that will face Ireland, Samoa, Russia and hosts Japan during the pool stages.

The squad sees the absence of midfielder Huw Jones, who has scored 10 tries in 17 caps for the side.

Other big exclusions from the squad for Japan include Northampton Saints centre, Rory Hutchinson and Edinburgh back-row Magnus Bradbury.
