Springboks looking at A and B teams similar to 2019

Four years ago Rassie Erasmus, then acting Springbok Coach, upset the apple cart by announcing he will split the Springbok squad during the opening two rounds of the Rugby Championship and send a bulk of his first choice players to New Zealand early, meaning they would miss the game against Australia which the fringe players would be involved in.

We could see a similar set up in the half backs and midfield to start off the Rugby Championship as to what was announced in 2019 with Handre Pollard definately out for the opening rounds and Damian Willemse on the cusp of being fit. Due to that Elton Jantjies was recalled as 10 cover with Manie Libbok the only fit out and out 10 in the squad.

If Jacques Nienaber sticks to the same blueprint Libbok could travel ahead to New Zealand with a bulk of the starting team for Round 2 while Elton Jantjies will start against Australia.

Here is a look at the starting side named by Erasmus to play New Zealand in Round 2
