Super Rugby Highlights: Blues v Sunwolves
- 472
Sunwolves outplayed the Blues in the first 20 minutes of the game, the Sunwolves took the two opportunities from the Blues to put points on the board.
The Blues started to play some rugby and scored the first try of the match!
The Sunwolves score one of their own and the Blues scored one before the half time buzzer.
The second half was different to the first in the sense that the Blues started to out play the visiting Sunwolves.
Although the scores were close up until the very end, the Blues seemed to be the better team, in fairness to the Sunwolves it was not by much and the first 25 minutes of the second half it could have gone either way.
Unfortunately for the Japanese side, they started making a lot of handling errors and give away penalty after penalty and also received 2 yellow cards , both for deliberately knocking down the ball. You cannot play a match where you are short a man for 15 minutes of a game and if they were not short in the last 10 minutes the game could have ended very differently.
Discipline and handling errors will no doubt be worked on for their next game as both teams had their moments, the Sunwolves just had a string of continuous penalties that made it practically impossible to play. Congrats to the Sunwolves as their rugby as drastically improved and should be proud for their last two match outcomes. Final Score 28-20. Sonny Bill Williams captained the Blues today and was all over the place, definetly an impact player.
Akira Ioane was very involved in almost try, he was often the link and play maker of Rieko Ioane's four tries, Rieko played fantastically well and deserves a special mention in the match. From the Sunwolves side, the captain Michael Little lead by true example as he put it all on the field today and was fantastic in his defense.
