Super Rugby Round 5 Highlights: Waratahs v Lions

The Melbourne Rebels claimed their first ever win in Dunedin over the Highlanders, holding on for a 28-22 victory to kickstart round 5 of Super Rugby.

The opening twenty minutes were completely dominated by the Rebels as they ran in three tries to race into a 21-0 lead.

The Highlanders got on the board with their first try shortly after and a second score with the final play of the half saw them trail just 21-14 at the break.

Highlanders had a bright start to the second half, but a Rebels intercept try 10 minutes in saw them again take control of the match 28-14.

The Highlanders got back into the game with their third try to trail 28-19, but then picked up a yellow card soon after. The Rebels were then reduced to 14 players with a yellow card of their own a few minutes later, with the resulting penalty slotted to reduce the deficit to just six points at 28-22. That would be where the comeback ended for the Highlanders, who picked up a late yellow card allowing the Rebels to secure the victory.
