Taufua sidelined for 12 weeks

Tasman and Crusaders number eight Jordan Taufua broke his arm in Saturday's Mitre 10 Cup final.

Tasman lost 35-13 to Canterbury in Saturday's Mitre 10 Cup Final in Christchurch and Taufua was replaced in the 41st minute due to his injury.

Tasman Rugby Union chief executive Tony Lewis said the 25-year-old had an operation on Sunday and may be sidelined for up to 12 weeks.

Lewis said the injury may give Taufua the rest he needs.

"It might be a good thing as now Jordan can have a well-earned rest after continually putting his body on the line throughout the season," he told Stuff.

Lewis also said Taufua should be ready for pre-season training with the Crusaders in January.

"It's a chance now for Jordan to get his body right and the rest will do him good," he added.

"He's one hell of a rugby player and one hell of a human being."
