Tempers Flying: England's Training Sessions Marred By Brawl With Georgia

England and Georgia players had to be pulled apart during a training session in Oxford on Wednesday. The training session was watched by dozens of young pupils who were told to keep their phones away and not take photographs as a fight broke out.

England coach Eddie Jones invited Georgia to provide opposition for his squad in preparation for their clash with Italy on March 9.

The two packs engaged in live scrummaging when trouble flared when the packs bound together for the first scrum. As the front rows broke apart, there was pushing and shoving, then punches were thrown by players on both sides.

The two sets of forwards also had to be pulled apart with coaches from both sides intervening. The second scrum went the way of the first, with the front rows breaking apart and a fight erupting, even more players became involved with some running across the pitch to join in.

Some England players engaged in further controlled drills with the Georgians, while the rest did their own separate work. Soon, the coaches called an end to the session and players on both sides shook hands before going their separate ways.

Speaking after the session, Georgia's head coach, Milton Haig, said: 'When two sides have a mind-set that they don't want to give an inch or millimetre, you usually get a bit of tension. It is just making sure we control ourselves, as it is a great opportunity for us.

'This is a big occasion for our guys. We are testing ourselves against some of the best players in the world. It's a real good opportunity for us, we know what we can do in our scrum and our interest is more around how we can compete in our defence and attack through our backs and how we adjust to the speed of everything.'
