Back in 2014, England hosted the Barbarians at HQ with a young side taking on some of the best in the world.

The young English side stayed in the game until the final 20 minutes when All Blacks winger Hosea Gear scored two late tries that helped the Barbarians claim 39-29 victory over a youthful and enterprising England XV.

The star studded Barbarians side saw All Blacks Joe Rokocoko, Rene Ranger, Benson Stanley, Jimmmy Cowan and Hosea Gear combine with Los Pumas playmaker Juan Martin Hernandez and Brock James with the pack punch some huge blows with  the likes of Mamuka Gorgodze, Juan Manuel Leguizamon, Donncha O'Callaghan, Juandre Kruger and Sona Taumalolo.

However, the youthful England side managed to stay within touching distance of the superb Barbarians side up and until Gear scored the match sealing try in the 77th minute.

The team including a number of players who have since become regulars in the England team or at their Premiership club. Elliot Daly started at fullback with Semesa Rokoduguni and Charlie Sharples covering the wings. Jonathan Joseph and Sam Hill occupied the centres with Herny Slade at flyhalf.
