The bitterness of last round’s result will not have faded from the minds of Leicester as they travel to the Ricoh Arena to tackle Wasps.
The Tigers came close to beating Bristol in Round 21, the game coming down to a scrum on the latter’s line in the 89th minute which Bristol managed to suffocate, thereby securing a 26-23 victory.
Wasps will be encouraged by the manner in which they pulled their game against the Exiles out of the fire last weekend. Lee Blackett’s men looked dead and buried against a fiery London Irish outfit who ran up a big score in the first half. However, Wasps mounted a remarkable comeback which saw them raise their fists in victory at the final whistle, much to the disbelief of the Exiles.
As things stand, both Wasps and Leicester have place in next year’s European competition. Only one point separates them on the log with Leicester on 49 and Wasps on 48. Wasps will have to brace themselves for a challenging contest up front after the Tigers pack had the better of Bristol last weekend, however, if they can find an early grip on the form which got them the win last weekend, this could be a massive and exciting contest.
Leicester administered a strong beating on Wasps the last time they met, something the latter will be keen to avenge as the season draws to a close.
