Tom Willis' hattrick secures a remarkable win for Wasps

Wasps flanker Tom Willis scored a last-second try to complete a hat-trick and an amazing comeback for Wasps as they downed London Irish 39-36 in a barnstorming encounter.

Wasps trailed 33-10 at halftime with Curtis Rona and Albert Tuisue both scoring twice for the Exiles, who ran in five tries during the first 40 minutes.

However, Wasps refused to be beat as they turned things around in the second half.

Tuisue scored his second try just before the break, seemingly ending the contests but Wasps pulled a try just two minutes into the second half as Jack Willis went over down the left following a break by Marcus Watson.

Jeff Toomaga-Allen's off-load put Jacob Umaga into space down the right and his pass allowed Watson to dive in at the corner as Wasps chipped away at the Exiles' lead.

London Irish were backtracking and matters were made worse when Adam Coleman was sin-binned and it did not take long for Wasps to capitalise, as Willis scored off the back of a driving maul.

With 14 minutes left on the clock, Josh Bassett scored a brilliant try from 40 metres out to make it a six-point game.

With the clock in the red, Watson was forced into touch before he could ground the ball while advantage was being played, but the visitors would not be denied from the resulting penalty as Willis crashed over to snatch the win and complete his hat-trick.
