Finn Russell
The out-half again stood out for his Glasgow side. He put them on the front foot as he played flat to the line for the whole game, often running the ball from his own half. He was a threat all evening for the visiting Racing side as he varied his game well, putting in clever grubbers and chips ahead which put their back three under pressure. Though he didn’t kick particularly well from the tee, he played a crucial role in each of his team’s five pointers. It’ll be hard for Warren Gatland to not consider him for his Lions squad this summer after his performances in the past couple of weeks.
Stuart Hogg
Hogg threatened the Racing defence every time he got on the ball. He setup Josh Strauss’s opening try with a sumptuous step inside, when it looked like he may have been pushed into touch by his opposite number, Brice Dulin. He made a crucial hit on Eddy Ben Arous which prevented the prop from getting over the whitewash for a score which may have got his side back in the game. The fullback kicked magnificently as well, as he put in a few trademark, old-school spirals to touch. A great performance by the poster boy of Scottish rugby.

On his 100th cap, the number eight showed us all that he was definitely a sound investment for Scottish rugby. The Scottish international carried well in the loose, going over for his side’s first score after five minutes, getting them off to a fantastic start. He often lined up at openside at the scrum, a great tactic used by the Warriors to limit their former teammate, Leone Nakarawa, from having an impact on the game. The Glasgow defence was immovable all evening and the bearded back-rower was a crucial component of it. The former Golden Lion will surely remember this game for years to come.
