CJ Stander
CJ Stander was immense today in this Six Nations clash with Italy. He carried powerfully throughout and was a menace at the breakdown from start to finish. His Trojan efforts were rewarded as he managed to bag himself a hat trick of tries. Perhaps most impressive was his relentless tackling and incredible physicality. Yet again he was the winner of the man of the match award as his incredible international form continues.
Paddy Jackson
Jackson put in another stand out performance at out half in the absence of Jonathan sexton. He displayed game management and maturity far beyond his years. He was impeccable from the tee, recording 100% success rate, including several touchline conversions. He marshalled the backline masterfully and lead the attack with pace and precision.
Keith Earls
The Munster man again proved why he is such an important asset to this Irish team. The former Munchins man has a knack or turning up in the right place at the right time. He contributed two tries to his team’s total tally of nine in their thoroughly dominant performance over the Italians. Though he did not have much to do in defence, he remained industrious throughout the eighty minutes, coming in off his wing and carrying in tight. He also looked quite comfortable when he moved to the centre, even when faced with the stern opposition of Italy’s star youngster Michele Campagnaro.
