Top 3 performers of the weekend

Dan Leavy

After coming off the bench in place of Dominic Ryan, Leavy has caused huge problems for Cullen with regards to selection moving forward after picking up the Man of the Match award tonight. The flanker made an instant impact, poaching loose ball and breaking to Edinburgh's line to set up Daly's opening try. As the fixture progressed, Leavy made some key plays, including a huge penalty on his own line to deny Edinburgh after the visitors had managed over 27 phases. The versatile back rower continued to shine as he powered through Edinburgh's defense with ease off the back of a maul for a try of his own. With a number of Leinster players playing out of position, the stability brought by Leavy was vital.

Marcell Coetzee

The man of the match award in this phenomenal team performance by Ulster went to the South African back row forward Marcell Coetzee. He was a dog at the breakdown, never giving Glasgow a moment, constantly keeping them under pressure and forcing an abundance of errors. He carried impressively and was a brick wall in defence making countless hits and forcing Glasgow back over the gain line again and again. The Ulster faithful will be looking forward to seeing more of this powerhouse in action as the season continues.

Denny Solomona

In what was only his 8th appearance in a Sale Shark jersey, the young Kiwi winger was phenomenal. His blistering pace and dazzling footwork had the Wasps defence mesmerised from start to finish and left them permanently on the back foot. With ball in hand he was unstoppable and constantly had the opposition guessing. He scored a hat-trick of magnificent tries in the first half, with a mere 18 minutes of play elapsing between the first and the last. His hat-trick, Sale’s second ever in the Premiership was the key to this crucial victory as it built an impressive lead which Wasps found unassailable. Solomona has been a revelation since joining Sale in December and they will be doing their utmost to hold on to the young superstar for as long as possible.
