Top 5 points scorers in the Top 14 so far this season

As the Top 14 season is underway with Pau taking on Toulouse on Saturday at Stade du Hameau, we take a quick look at the current leading men of the competition.

Here are the top 5 points scorers so far this season:

5. Morgan Parra (78 points for Clermont)

Clermont have latched on to a talented scrum-half who is an advanced kicker and an edgy distributor that enjoys good all round games.

The versatile Parra made his international debut at only 19, standing out to be first or second choice scrum-half for his country.

‘La petite general’, a title he cemented when playing key roles in guiding France to the 2010 Six Nations Grand Slam, lands at number 5 in this list with 78 points so far this season.

4. Ian Madigan (79 points for Bordeaux Begles)

Making his 100th appearance for Leinster back in 2014, Madigan has been a visible and instrumental member of the Pro12 outfit before leaving this year.

The versatile fly half has made 79 points in the Top 14 so far, just after 6 months with Bordeaux Begles.

3. Ben urdipalleta (98 for Castres)

Castres is Urdapilleta's second French club and third European overall, as he has displayed skills for Premiership club Harlequins (2010-2012) and Oyannax (2012-2015).

The 30-year-old was the highest scoring non-Frenchman in the 2015 Top 14 season (297 points), and although relatively overlooked, Urdapilleta stands as an important player in French rugby.

2. Leigh Halfpenny (101 points for Toulon)

Halfpenny's inclusion in the list is not much of a shocker as the 27-year-old is the third highest record points scorer for Wales (after Neil Jenkins and Stephen Jones).

He has made 101 points for Toulon so far this season and is continuing to make great impact for the French heavyweights.

1. Gaetan Germain (117 for Brive)

A familiar name in the top points scorers list, Germain has established himself in the Top 14 with Racing 92 from 2011-2013, showcasing versatility with his thrilling on-field displays.

With 117 points so far this season, the 26-year-old visits the number 1 spot again as the leading points scorer in the Top 14 after topping the list in the 2013-14 season with 299 points.
